For more information, visit www.eastman.com.Job DescriptionQuality Assurance Representative will work with minimal supervision to support quality systems in the manufacturing processes in the Polymers Quality and Customer Service Group.This role requires routine and frequent interaction with manufacturing & operations, including time in the field auditing, investigating and troubleshooting quality issues. This role also works closely with business organizations, supply chain, contractors, materials handling, procurement, logistics, suppliers and external customers.Managing multiple projects, both short and long term, is expected in this assignment. The QA Rep role provides an individual with various business, customer, and manufacturing opportunities that are excellent experience for future manufacturing, supply chain, sales or business assignments.The ideal candidate:has technical or quality experience that can be leveraged to get up to speed quicklyhas proven ability to work independently on multiple assignments with a high level of accountabilityis willing to put time and effort into understanding the needs and opportunities of the role is able to demonstrate influence without authority Joe ResponsibilitiesProvides direction to Manufacturing, Development, Supply Chain, and Business Organizations on quality assurance issuesLeads quality-related root cause investigations including customer complaints determines root cause / corrective actions and provides responsesInvestigates, documents and resolves deviations or other non-conforming eventsManages multiple projects ranging from daily customer responses to long-term quality system improvementsPartners with the manufacturing area to proactively identify and eliminate potential sources of quality defects (Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, Gap Analyses)Proactively monitors and manages blocked stock inventoryInteracts with customers including complaint investigations, customer inquiries, surveys, and process change notificationsResponds to customer call reports for potential opportunities to proactively understand and resolve various concerns before they are elevated to a complaintInteracts with suppliers;implementation of purchase specifications & fitness for use requirements and providing appropriate communication to suppliers Identifies and leads quality system improvements that result in reduced cost and improved product quality and serving as QA Rep on other improvement projects Develops and leads quality culture and awareness initiatives that support continual improvement and corporate strategyDevelops and maintains sales specifications, both general sales and customer specific specifications; Statistically analyze data to support appropriate specificationsRepresents the quality function on new product commercialization teams Approves all changes that potentially affect intermediate or final product qualityManages corrective and preventive actions identified through external and internal quality eventsCoordinates and participates in quality audits (ISO, regulatory, customer, supplier)Writes, revises, reviews, monitors and approves quality documentation Develops and implements statistical process controls using appropriate quality tools and statistical techniquesDevelops, monitors and reports appropriate and effective process metricsDevelops, implements, and continuously monitors quality plans and related control plans, ensuring continuous conformance to quality requirementsEnsures contractual quality requirements are reviewed, understood and communicated to all affected functions and personnel QualificationsMinimum of BS degree in Engineering, Chemistry or a related science discipline.At least 2 years of manufacturing or quality support experience or technical service background highly preferredHigh level of interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and with othersSelf-motivated with strong problem solving skillsAbility to make risk-based decisions on product quality issuesEffective project management skills; capable of handling multiple projects Ability to quickly understand new manufacturing processes and quality systems Willingness to travel as needed (typically less than 10% of the time)Effective oral and written communication skillsAbility to lead meetings and present technical investigationsExperience with Microsoft Windows and Office programsExperience with SAP and LIMS (considered a plus)Experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control (considered a plus)Knowledge and understating of ISO and cGMP (considered a plus)Six Sigma, DOE, root cause analysis and SPC experience/knowledge (considered a plus) Eastman Chemical Company is an equal opportunity employer.
