For more information, ResponsibilitiesThis Electrical Engineer will be a member of the Technology Project Engineering team in Worldwide Engineering and Construction Division. The engineer will be responsible for a variety of projects supporting the top corporate growth initiatives and Technology facility infrastructure primarily at the Kingsport, TN site. Projects will vary in scope from troubleshooting, upgrades, identification of process improvements, and small capital projects. This individual will be expected to build a strong cross-functional network, collaborating with other Technology, Eastman support organizations, and Contractor employees. This individual will interface with a variety of Eastman businesses, and should be comfortable communicating with operations, technicians, group leaders, and directors.Electrical Design:

  • Utilize a broad range of engineering skills on Technology projects that span from small, fast-paced technical support needs to larger, long-range study jobs, development projects, and capital projects.
  • Drive innovation and innovative thinking through engineering approaches and work processes.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, capacity and process improvement projects such as process optimization and electrical reliability.
  • Lead in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and ongoing improvements of electrical systems and equipment within the Technology organization
  • Requires a variety of electrical engineering skills, including all or some of the following: process instrumentation, process control, safety systems, power distribution, grounding, lighting, motors, analyzers, and electrical system design.
  • Utilize recognized national and internal company engineering standards to specify and size a variety of process instrumentation, motors, VFDs, automated programming (PLC & DCS systems), process and safety interlock design, detailed electrical design, and more.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for liaison between project and Pilot Plant teams.
  • Provide oversight for small construction project engineering.Project Management:
  • Manage multiple Technology projects simultaneously, supporting each business segment within Eastman.
  • Projects are primarily directly supporting growth initiatives and infrastructure projects required for Top Growth platforms.
  • For each project, the engineer will:
  • Work with in-plant customers to define project needs and scope
  • Use scope to prepare estimate of project costs
  • Develop and initiate work packages using appropriate funding mechanism
  • Procure needed electrical equipment
  • Work with a team of technologists, technicians, and skilled craft labor to execute the project
  • Communicate and coordinate closely with customers, fellow project participants, and field execution forces to ensure project execution runs smoothly
  • Monitor schedule and costs regularly to ensure project remains within control boundaries
  • Ensure proper documentation of all aspects of the project: scope; deliverables; estimate; material and labor costs; drawings; scheduleQualifications
    • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
    • Two or more years of industrial experience preferred.
    • Must be a self-starter, with demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team.
    • Must follow corporate and site standards in the design and execution of all project work.
    • Ability to interact positively with group members, project teams, technicians, technologist, and other organizations.
    • Attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong work ethic and ability to organize/prioritize and execute assignments in a high activity environment.
