Job Description:


The Manager, Continuous Improvement will lead, facilitate, and support lean transformation initiatives, ensure lean strategies are developed to improve and re-design systems, and processes critical to safe, timely, effective, equitable and patient care. In partnership with physicians, nursing, and administrative leaders the Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of comprehensive performance improvement and lean re-design initiatives within the healthcare facility and communicating these initiatives to all levels of the organization.

The Manager will facilitate an Operational Excellence steering team in the development of an organizational vision that effects positive changes in patient care. This individual shall develop tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision, as well as to identify long and short term objectives to support the organization's goals. The Manager will work with all stakeholders to identify, address, and eliminate obstacles (either process related or people related). Additionally, the Manager shall lead the change of systems/processes as required to support lean initiatives.

The Manager will act as a change agent to guide process improvements through the formation and management of Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) which includes to identify participants and to plan the events and preparing the necessary materials, as well as to facilitate RIE teams. The Manager shall provide necessary training specific to Lean Manufacturing tools, follow up on action plans, and assist all teams as needed to ensure improvements are made and sustained.

The Manager shall act in the capacity of role model and mentor, this individual will launch all activates needed to incorporate lean manufacturing into the site's culture. The Manager will identify on-going training needs, schedule RIE weeks with the assigned sensei. The Manager shall coordinate with the Steering Committee to identify and prioritize areas of focus/topics for the teams. In addition, this individual shall communicate the direction of Lean Manufacturing initiatives to all Team Members.

The Manager shall track all changes/improvements made to provide Leadership the assurance that changes are effective and lasting. This individual will examine and evaluate the areas after improvements are implemented. The Manager will post, or update, results to the Mission Control boards, track site-level true north metrics results using defined tools and documents for consistency with other locations, as well as review new procedures/controls and appraise the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. The Manager shall work with managers and supervisors to resolve any issues that might arise during implementation and maintenance phases. The Manager shall communicate effectively to teams the results to all internal and external customers; while conducting monthly updates, weekly staff meeting updates, and periodic updates to other Team Members as needed.

The Manager will also be responsible to establish budgets, approve expenditures, monitore costs, and analyze the return on the cost of change investments.

A Bachelors degree in business or healthcare related field is required. A minimum of 3 years Leadership and Supervisory experience required, a minimum of 3 years Lean Transformation experience preferred. Other necessary skills required include; Language, Interpersonal, Mathematical, Reasoning, Influencing and advanced computer skills.
