Title: RN Manager I-House Manager - Agency Only State Role Title: Registered Nurse Manager I Hiring Range: Minimum Salary: $116,519/year - Salary Commensurate with Relevant Years of Experience Pay Band: 5 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Southwestern VA Mtl Hlth Inst Agency Website: www.swvmhi.dbhds.virginia.gov Recruitment Type: Agency Employee Only - A Job Duties SWVMHI has four fulltime Shift Nurse Coordinators (SNC) who work a designated day/evening/night shift and are accountable for patient care for a census up to and sometimes exceeding 179, and for 65-95 nursing employees on duty throughout the facility. The SNCs plan, direct and coordinate medical and health services in a psychiatric hospital, public health agency for the successful operations of a 24-hour a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year nursing unit at the facility. This position is responsible for the entire hospital operations for the duration of their shift. Duties include: • With other SNCs, P-14 House Supervisors, and relief House Supervisors (usually Head Nurses), ensures administrative presence in facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. SNC duties responding to emergency codes, overseeing admissions and discharge processes on given shift, patient transportation needs, receiving staff call ins and overseeing staffing and scheduling needs for the shift, assisting with nursing staff development, problem solving with electronic health record, electronic nursing scheduling / timekeeping systems, and 24-hour nursing report. • Coordination of centralized departmental leadership to oversee efficient resources on a shift-by-shift basis for patient care according to the facility and nursing department’s mission, vision, values, standards, policies, and procedures. • Ensure quality patient care meeting accrediting agency standards (TJC, CMS, OIG, and so forth) for patients with mental illness through administration of medication, provision of treatments, and direct-care services on adult and geriatric units. • Ensure recovery concepts and DEFUSE interventions are incorporated into daily practice for adult and geriatric patient populations from the pre-admission process through discharge in relation to nursing care and responsibilities. • Collaborates with other disciplines and departments especially medical, clinical, human resource, and administrative staff. • Serve as direct managing supervisor for centralized (float) and assigned P-14 nursing staff Minimum Qualifications • Must be a Licensed Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or applicant status • Experience as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse in an in-patient setting related to treatment for mental illness, forensic and/or substance abuse treatment required. Additional Considerations • Strongly prefer extensive experience in upper-level management and supervision of multiple levels of nursing staff • Excellent computer skills including electronic health record and electronic nursing scheduling.
