be considered. A critical care opportunity is available for a
registered nurse skilled in neuro step-down care. This contract
position is based in Lenoir, NC, at a well-equipped medical center
specializing in neuroscience and neuro progressive post-surgical
care. Location Overview: Lenoir offers a welcoming community with

environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide skilled nursing care to
adult and geriatric patients recovering from neurological surgeries
such as craniotomy, spine, and neck procedures. Monitor patients
closely using equipment like Masimo vital sign monitors and Zoll
devices. Collaborate effectively within the care team to manage
complex cases involving stroke, traumatic brain injuries (TBI),
altered mental status (AMS), and brain cancer. Document and manage
patient information using Cerner electronic health records.
Maintain required certifications and adhere to unit protocols.
Qualifications and Experience: Current RN licensure with at least 2
years of clinical experience. Proven expertise in neuro step-down
nursing, including familiarity with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Required certifications: ACLS and BLS. Ability to work a PM shift
with 36 guaranteed hours weekly and weekend coverage consistent
with a 72-hour rotation over six weeks. Strong teamwork skills and
a personable, approachable demeanor are vital. Leadership
experience is a plus. Flexibility to float as needed and no on-call
responsibilities. Additional Details: Patient ratio: 5:1 in a
20-bed unit. Dress code allows any scrub color without cartoons;
nurse-style sweatshirts with hoods or specific nurse-themed
t-shirts are not permitted outside designated days. This position
is contract-based and offers the chance to develop expertise in a
specialized neuro progressive post-surgical unit with experienced
