Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVICU - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/28/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Travel RN – CVICU | Nights | Asheville, NC 13-Week Contract | Start Date: ASAP Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Every Other Weekend Required We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated CVICU Travel RNs for an exciting contract opportunity in Asheville, NC. Join a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiovascular intensive care unit that is known for both clinical excellence and exceptional teamwork. Position Overview: - Location: Asheville, NC - Unit: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) - Shift: Nights | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM - Duration: 13 weeks - Start Date: ASAP - Schedule: Every other weekend required - Floating: May float to other ICUs and step-down units as needed Travel pay rate: $25/hr W2 (Taxable) $1400 Non-Taxable Stipend Travel Rate= Weekly Gross Pay: $2300 Unit Details: - Unit Type: Mixed CVICU/CVRU (Cardiovascular Recovery Unit) - Bed Count: 19 beds - Staffing Ratio: Typically 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity; occasional 1:3 for holdover downgraded patients - Support Team: Experienced charge nurses, dedicated nurse educator, aides on all shifts - Annual Volume: Approx. 850 open-heart surgeries/year - EMR System: Cerner - Monitoring: GE monitors - Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs Required Experience & Certifications: - Certifications: BLS, ACLS (must be active prior to start) - Experience: - Minimum 2 years recent experience in CVICU or CVRU - Critical Care training - Strong interest or background in surgical heart care - Ability to work in high-acuity, device-intensive environments Common Procedures & Devices: - IABP - Impella - Hemodynamic monitoring - LVAD care - Chest tube and pacer wire removal - Frequent ambulation of post-op patients - Intubation/extubation (supportive environment with team collaboration) Preferred Qualifications: - Certification in Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room - Prior experience with ECMO, LVADs, or complex cardiac devices - Team-oriented mindset and a passion for learning and cardiac care Ideal Candidate: A high-energy, upbeat RN who thrives in a team-driven environment, is eager to learn, and has a deep passion for cardiac care and recovery.
