We are seeking a candidate with knowledge and skills in managing various toxicology functions. The candidate would work within the corporate Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs organization in close coordination with business and technology managers, product stewards, and product registration/clearance and hazard communications personnel to support existing products, and development and commercialization of new products. Responsibilities: Managing team of -12 people Support global business units with evaluation of toxicological and regulatory issues for new products. Ability to work independently and deal with a wide-ranging portfolio of product lines. Determine toxicological studies that are required to support regulatory clearances of individual products and/or product lines, and manage the placement and conduct of those studies with contract laboratories. Support for global chemical registrations such as TSCA, REACH dossiers, etc., and/or special clearances such as FDA, EFSA, FIFRA, etc. Align with hazard communication personnel to assign appropriate hazard classifications according to specific country or regional classification criteria, and provide toxicological data to support generation of Safety Data Sheets for products. Conducting risk assessments and providing support for new or ongoing initiatives (both industrial hygiene related and product related assessments). Involvement with trade association panels and subject matter consortia. Strong candidates for this position should have many of the following skills, or be willing to be trained in these areas. Education and Additional Skills: The position requires a Ph.D. in toxicology, or comparable degree, with 5+ years of experience (or a master's degree with significant relevant experience). Knowledge or experience with emerging toxicological and risk assessment technologies such as high throughput in vitro testing, computational toxicology, exposure modeling, endocrine disruption testing, etc.. Experience with predictive QSAR models for physical/chemical properties and human health toxicological endpoints, such as EPI Suite or the OECD QSAR Toolbox is desirable. DABT certification is also preferred, but not required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong ability to communicate technical issues effectively to a broad audience of technical and non-technical personnel is required. Strong IT skills are also required. Ability to provide leadership to project teams on issues related to toxicology is required. Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and work effectively and collaboratively in multidisciplinary, multi-cultural team environment. Experience in the conduct of EPA/OECD guideline toxicological studies conducted by contract laboratories, including study planning and reviews of draft reports. Knowledge of global chemical legislation and guidance on chemical registrations and hazard classifications. Eastman Chemical Company is an equal opportunity employer.
