Description The Quality Manager is responsible for the analysis,
inspection, design, test, and/or integration of appropriate Quality
Systems to assure product quality. Ensures the proper and accurate
collection of Critical to Quality Data and presents data to
management for use in daily planning and continuous improvement
efforts. The Quality Manager works closely with suppliers and
customers in ensuring that all products (raw material through
finished goods) meet required specifications. The Quality Manager
will ensure that their facility of note is compliant with all city,
state, federal and industry requirements with specific focus on
CGMP and Food Safety regulations. The Quality Manager is will
manage all the Continuous improvement activities in the plant. The
Quality manager will report directly to the Plant Manager, with
additional reporting responsibility to the Director of Quality.
Duties: Performs quality reviews of applicable documentation for
compliance with stated requirements, including customer quality
requirements and Portola quality procedures and policies.
Interfaces directly with customers to resolve quality
issues/concerns Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods
for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process
changes. Will provide appropriate leadership and accountability for
managing the Quality department, including all laboratory
activities and requirements. Ensures compliance to all PCP and
other related documents as provided by the corporate QA department.
Will ensure that all appropriate action plans are implemented and
control plans put into place. Ensures that effective and applicable
testing and inspection protocols are implemented, challenged and
verified for all primary and secondary process within the overall
manufacturing process. Reviews all purchased raw materials and
provides input supporting acceptance or rejection. Reviews and
analyzes data obtained during all quality assurance activities,
consistent with company policies and procedures. Utilizes advanced
level of problem solving skills to develop creative solutions. This
position will work in a collaborative manner with the appropriate
departments to affect positive change to systems that incorporate
solutions that are repeatable, reliable and sustainable.
Communicates significant issues or developments identified during
quality assurance activities and provides recommended process
improvements to plant management. Prepares reports to communicate
results of quality assurance activities. Maintains a working
knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and
standards. Exhibits energetic, hands on, plant floor "bias for
action" approach. Works with intent to improve overall processes
(and related issues) including process development, creating
process documentation, and problem solving. Implements corrective
actions and associated control plans. Develop and implement
training and communication programs to be presented to all levels
of the organization that outline current state, initiatives for
improvement and results. Comply with all safety procedures Job
Requirements Must have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college
or university in an Engineering or related field 7-10 years related
experience in management, quality systems preferred Strong
background and experience in Six Sigma (minimum green belt
certification) Project Management including Gantt charting
Continuous improvement concepts, and/or industry recognized
quality-based certifications Food Safety/HACCP Certification
