YMCA Senior Director: School-Aged Childcare

Job Description:

  • Manages, plans, works in, and supervises school-aged out of school programs, including but not limited to non-grant Afterschool sites, day camp site, and all day out of school and virtual learning programs to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Creates enrollment growth for assigned programs to meet or exceed organization budgetary expectations.
  • Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs and reports progress regularly.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations and that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
    • Recruits, retains, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directly supervises personnel and volunteers for assigned programs. Organizes people and activities for efficiencies and effectiveness. Reviews and evaluates staff performance, conducts staff meetings, and develops and implements strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
    • Plans and expands programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
    • Provides for upkeep of assigned program supplies, facilities, and equipment. Orders supplies and equipment as needed.
    • Develops and maintains positive relationships with children, parents, co-workers, school administration, volunteers and other similar organizations while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children.
    • Maintains proper records and department files. Understands and assists with registrations.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations and establishes functional partnerships to meet community needs and support the Y mission.
    • Cross-train with Child Care Registrar to complete childcare registration, billing, etc.
    • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
    • In conjunction with marketing staff, promote and market programs and services.
    • Follows and models all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
      • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

        • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, child and family studies or related field with at least one year documented experience (paid or internship) working with children in a care or educational setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
        • Minimum of 2 years supervisory or program management experience.
        • YMCA Team Leader completed or willingness to complete.
        • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety trainings assigned within 30 days of hire date.
        • Committed to and supportive of the Y mission.
        • Detail oriented, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi task.
        • Exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.
        • Proficient with standard office technology, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and must demonstrate willingness and ability to learn new programs and functions.
        • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from various social and economic segments of the community with empathy.
        • Flexible schedule - occasional nights, weekends, and varying hours.
        • Minimum of 1 years' experience with grants administration ( tracking, documentation, administering) preferred.Job Type: Full-timePay: $43,500.00 - $45,000.00 per yearBenefits:
